On a cloudy Tuesday morning, June 17, 2014, I visited Shogaku-ji, which is noted for its beautiful irises and hydrangeas. The usually quiet temple premises were filled with visitors making clicking sounds with their cameras here and there, and a chaty group of nursery school kids.
