Flamboyant autumn scenery - From northern Yokohama, Japan

Flamboyant autumn scenery

From predominantly green scenery in summer, to colorful, vivid, flamboyant scenery in autumn, deciduous trees enjoy life year round. They awaken in spring when the environment becomes more welcoming; they become greener and stronger drawing sustenance from the sun and the earth in summer. Then, in autumn, they compete with each other saying “Look at how beautiful I am.” Autumn is the time to show off their beauty on the catwalk of nature. Exhausted from this performance, they surely look forward to taking a long rest in winter.

Here is a Haiku by Basho Matuo (1644-1694) depicting autumn foliage: “A spinning colorful leaf falls on bean curd adding a tint.”
